Green Boom Oil-Only Loose Absorbent Sheen – Large

Green Boom Oil-Only Loose Absorbent Sheen (Large) is designed for removing thin oil films and sheens from the surface of water. Made from biodegradable material, it absorbs oil while repelling water, so it floats and can be skimmed off once saturated.

Ideal for dealing with a hydrocarbon sheen on standing water in excavations, trial pits, settlement ponds or drainage channels.

Key Features

• Large — bulk capacity for wide areas
• Designed for thin oil films and sheens on water
• Floats for easy retrieval
• Oil-only — absorbs fuels, oils and hydrocarbons while repelling water
• Made from biodegradable, plant-based sorbent material

Typical Applications

• Oil sheen on water in excavations and trial pits
• Settlement ponds and drainage channels
• Watercourses and ditches near site works
• Environmental incident response

Why oil-only?

Oil-only (hydrophobic) sorbents pick up fuels, oils and hydrocarbons but repel water. That makes them the right choice for outdoor sites, wet ground, excavations and spills near drains or watercourses, where a universal sorbent would quickly become saturated with rainwater and lose its capacity.

Important Information

Oil-only sorbents are designed for hydrocarbons and are not suitable for acids, alkalis or aggressive chemicals. Used sorbents should be bagged and disposed of in line with your site waste management procedures and applicable regulations. For general chemical spills, see our Chemical Spill Absorbent Disposal Kit.
